Schedule a Restart, Shutdown, or Sleep on Your Mac
Tuesday, July 13, 2021
Restarting or shutting down your Mac is a healthy habit that will lend to a better/faster user experience. Restarting allows the macOS to reset, perform self-repair, optimization, and troubleshooting. Most of us don’t do it often because it’s a pain to take the time in the middle of whatever we’re doing. We have a solution! It is possible to schedule specific times to start up, shut down, go to sleep, or wake from sleep‑No more need for mid-day or mid-work interruptions!
Your Mac must be awake and you must be logged in to your account for it to shut down at a scheduled time. That’s our normal state so most likely you won’t need to do anything differently.
Here’s How:
1. Click the Apple logo in the upper left corner of your screen.
2. Choose System Preferences.
3. Click Energy Saver.
4. Click Schedule in the bottom-right corner, then select the options that work best for you.
Restarting your Mac is good for both software and hardware.
Give it a try!
