The remodeled iMacs are now on sale. The new 2021 iMacs feature a stunning new design that comes in six colors. This harkens back to the original iMacs from the late 90’s and early 00’s that revolutionized the computer industry, while bringing a bit of fun to the personal computer market. The new design is razor thin appears to be delightful to look at on the desk. 

These new iMacs feature the same amazingly fast Apple Silicon M1 chip that is being used on the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. Apple is transitioning from using Intel made processors, to Apple-made ones, like on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. They are starting with their consumer level computer products, and will be updating the more high-end machines over the next few years. 

According to Apple, compared to the previous generation 21.5-inch model, the M1 iMac offers up to 85 faster performance. As with the prior entry-level 21.5-inch iMac models, RAM maxes out at 16GB, but the higher-end models that continue to have Intel chips are configurable with up to 128GB RAM.

The M1 chip enables the thinner design introduced with the new iMac. The logic board and internals have been dramatically consolidated and reduced in size, so the new iMac takes up less space and fits more easily in different places. It is also considerably quieter than the previous version thanks to the thermals of the M1 chip and the new cooling system.
