Update your iPhone …Now!
Monday, February 1, 2021
Generally speaking, we recommend that iPhone and iPad users update their devices regularly when new software updates come out. 99% of the time these updates from Apple and others are put it out in order to fix problems they have discovered, and they do much more good than harm. Every once in a while an update will case an issue, but these are rare cases. Seriously!
If you are not on the most recent version of iOS or iPad OS it’s usually no problem, but last week it was reported that the iPhone and iPad have three security vulnerabilities that “may have been actively exploited” by hackers.
We don’t much detail yet, but Apple rarely admits to such vulnerabilities, They only do so when there is a really serious problem and they want people to install the update!
The good news is that these security holes have been patched, but the only way this fix can get to your device is via software update. If you have an iPhone or an iPad - here’s how to update to the most recent version of iOS or iPad OS.
- Unlock your iPhone and open the “Settings” app.
- In Settings, tap on “General”.
- In the General menu, tap “Software Update”.
- Tap “Install” and enter your iPhone passcode.
- If your iPhone is plugged into power the update should take about 10 minutes!
